  • Our fees are set according to current market rates according to geographic practice location, years of clinical experience, advance graduate and doctoral level degrees, and specialties.

  • No. I am currently not in-network with any insurance companies at this time. However, you may be able to use your Out of Network (OON) Mental Health Benefit from your insurance to get a portion of your session fees reimbursed. As an OON provider, I can provide you with Superbills after each session once I have received direct payment from you. These Superbills will have your treatment code and necessary information your insurance company needs to potentially reimburse a percentage of your session fees. Many clients use their OON Mental Health Benefit. Please note that this may depend on whether you’ve met your deductible and the specific type of coverage your insurance company offers. So, I encourage you to call or search via your insurance websites to find out the specifics of your OON Mental Health coverage.

Some helpful questions to ask your insurance company when you call:

-Do I have any Out-of-Network Mental Health coverage when receiving therapy services from a licensed psychologist in New York and/or New Jersey?

-Are the coverage different for in-person or telehealth sessions?

-How much do you cover for each session/What is my coverage for the following sessions:

    • CPT code: 90791 (Initial Consultation, 60 mins)

    • CPT code: 90834 (Psychotherapy session, 45 mins)

    • CPT code: 90837 (Psychotherapy session, 60 mins)

-How many sessions do you cover per annual year?

-Do I have a deductible or out-of-pocket amount I have to meet in order to get reimbursed? If so, how much is remaining?

-Where do I submit my Superbills and how often and when do I need to submit these bills?

  • Since I reserve a time slot for your weekly sessions and cannot typically see another client with short notice, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy in place to respect both of our time. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please email Dr. Gwak at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session. If not, please understand that you will be charged your full session fee.

  • My practice is currently not set up to provide emergency services to our clients at this time. If clients need greater support than their weekly ongoing therapy sessions, I can provide referrals to the appropriate provider who can meet their needs.
